Let's set the scene. You've installed Air SMS, have enabled the abandoned cart automation, and now you'd like to test that it works. Let's get started!
Make sure you've:
Enabled the abandoned cart automation.
Topped up your account and have a positive account balance.
Let's test it out
To test the abandoned cart automation, perform the following steps:
Visit your shop.
Add some items to your cart and go to the checkout.
Start entering your details. You must either check out with your phone number instead of email address, or put your phone number in the shipping phone number field. You must also agree to receive marketing.
Press Continue to Shipping.
Abandon the cart (e.g. close the window).
Now we play the waiting game
Depending on how you configured the automation, you'll need to wait a while before receiving the text.
When you receive the text, congratulations, you've successfully tested the abandoned cart automation. Feel free to click on the link in the text to be taken back to your checkout to complete your purchase.
I haven't received the text
Firstly, what time is it? Check the quiet hours setting in your Air SMS settings. Air SMS will not send SMS during quiet hours and will postpone delivery until the next day.
Is it close to quiet hours? Sometimes there is uncertainly when determining your time zone, and out of an abundance of caution, we will postpone delivery until the next day. Additionally, we may deliver the text slightly after quiet hours ends if we are unable to precisely determine your time zone.
Have you met the prerequisites above? Make sure the abandoned cart automation is enabled and you have a positive account balance.
Did you enter the correct phone number and opt-in to marketing on the checkout page? If not, repeat the test with the correct details. Were these fields missing? Check out our store setup guide and GDPR compliance guide.
Have you already tested another marketing automation recently? Smart Sending prevents you from receiving multiple marketing texts in quick succession. Review the Smart Sending setting in your Air SMS settings and try again at a later time.
